Automated multi-purpose printability tester with dual printing shafts
The IGT Amsterdam 2 is a versatile, automated printability tester designed for reliable and repeatable evaluation of paper, board, inks, coatings and other flexible substrates. With two printing shafts, programmable test conditions and an integrated camera system, it provides a flexible platform for both routine quality control and advanced printability research.
The Amsterdam 2 combines precise control of printing speed, printing force, timing and printing conditions with a broad range of established printability tests. Constant-speed and increasing-speed tests can be performed, while programmable test procedures allow the system to be adapted to specific laboratory requirements.
Powerful testing with objective analysis
The integrated camera enables digital recording of test results and, when the relevant analysis software is licensed, automated analysis of applications including:
- Pick according to ISO 3783
- Heliotest
- Mottling
- Print penetration
- IGT Roughness
- Hydro-expansivity
Camera-based analysis helps reduce operator subjectivity and improve the repeatability of test evaluation. Test data and scanned images can also be exported via USB for further analysis and documentation.
Flexible testing for multiple printing processes
The Amsterdam 2 can be configured for a wide range of applications and test methods. Its dual printing shafts allow different printing discs and test configurations to be used, while the doctoring system supports applications such as gravure printing. The system can also be extended with additional accessories and user-defined test procedures.
Printing speed can be set from 0.1 to 4.0 m/s, while printing force can be adjusted across the available test range. The system supports short, programmable intervals between prints, making it suitable for tests where precise timing and repeatability are essential.
